How Big Brothers Big Sisters Used 1 Story to Craft 3 Videos
Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee (BBBS-ETN) came to Rustic Roots with a challenge—tell the story of the BoldPath program, where students are connected with coaches for one-to-one or group mentoring, creating a tangible difference in their lives.
But the story would need to resonate with three audiences for different purposes: potential supporters at a fundraising event, an evergreen thank you video for donors, and a recruitment video for new mentorship coaches.
The challenge was accepted!
We crafted a cohesive and compelling story that we then adapted for three videos. Here's behind the scene look at how we achieved this:
Initial Consultation: We sat down with BBBS-ETN to understand their goals and key messages.
Story Planning: We created a plan aligned with BBBS-ETN's narrative and goals. We had to ensure we created scripts and interview questions to allow us to build out the three different video versions.
Filming: We captured heartfelt testimonials from students, coaches, and school administrators, as well as footage of the mentoring sessions in action.
Editing: We crafted a cohesive and compelling story that we adapted for three audiences.
Feedback and Revisions: We worked with BBBS-ETN to refine the videos and ensure it resonated with their intended audiences.
And here's how they turned out:
BoldPath's Story for Fundraising Event
BoldPath's Story to Thank Donors
BoldPath's Story to Recruit Coaches
The BoldPath videos made a big splash for BBBS-ETN.
"These videos were shared post-event, and donations increased by 7%. We also believe the impact of the Boldpath videos made a lasting impression that contributed to a huge donation post-event."

We're proud to have been part of this project and to help BBBS-ETN make a difference in their community.
