Why We Started
🌿 We started Rustic Roots because too many nonprofits were being left out of the story.
Earlier this month, we were down in southern Indiana working with a community organization.
I was riding with one of their staff members, and we started talking about Rustic Roots, how it began, why we focus on nonprofits, and what makes our work different.
We got onto the topic of affordability. I shared that one of the main reasons we started this company was because we saw how often video felt out of reach. Nonprofits just weren’t getting the same attention or creative energy as the
for-profit world.
She said something that stuck with me:
“We’ve always wanted to use video in our work.
It just never felt possible until now.”
That moment hit me.
For us, it’s not just about being affordable. It’s about building something tailor-made for nonprofits. That might mean reworking a budget, but it also means doing more with less. Thinking beyond a one-off video, building a content library that spans programs, reaches different audiences, and strengthens donor relationships over time.
This is why we started Rustic Roots — to make storytelling possible where it matters most.
If this resonates with you or your organization, I’d love to connect.
