What’s Your 2024 Video Storytelling Game Plan?

Nonprofit life moves fast, and storytelling often gets pushed to the bottom of the list. But the truth is, stories are one of the most powerful tools you have for building connections and driving support.

Here are a few simple ways to keep storytelling in the mix without burning out:

🎯 Start with your mission

Focus your stories on what matters most. Let your key initiatives guide your storytelling efforts. When stories support your mission directly, they tend to resonate more with your audience.

📅 Create a simple storytelling calendar

You don’t need a complex system. Just dedicating certain days or blocks of time for creating, reviewing, and sharing stories can make a big difference in keeping the momentum going.

⚙️ Use what you already have

You don’t need a brand new story every time. Repurpose photos, past video clips, quotes, or updates from the field. One strong story can fuel a lot of content across different platforms.

🤝 Don’t do it alone

Storytelling does not have to fall on one person. Involve your team and delegate where you can. Different perspectives often bring new energy to the process.

⏱️ Batch your tasks

Group similar tasks together. Set aside time for things like interviews, editing, or scheduling. This helps reduce distractions and keeps things moving more efficiently.

If you want to tell more stories this year but need help getting started, let’s talk. We’ve worked with over 100 nonprofits to bring their stories to life through video, and we’d love to support your work too.
